While you’re working on the major pieces of your wedding checklist, from photography to the DJ, keep in mind the local opportunities that abound for your floral and catering vendors. These huge pieces of planning also have a huge effect on the world around you.
Local Appreciation
“Buy flowers and food from local sources,” says Kim, an offbeat bride. “This can be a hard one, I think, but it’s so good.
“Florists have all kinds of ways to get their flowers, and local flowers don’t perpetuate the slave trade surrounding cut flowers. Plus- your flowers can really match what’s naturally in season at that time, which is totally cool.
“Find a caterer who gets their supply from a local farm, and I think that just takes some asking around. All good for the little guys in the local economy.”
Wouldn’t it be great to get to know the local farmers and growers, and to give back in this way to your location? I’m positive you’ll love your flowers and food even more on the day of your wedding, and I’d be willing to bet there will be so much more care put into them by the florist and caterer.
