Looking for myself in search if found this page. Think you might be confusing 2 books. Mark was suggesting http://www.seoforphotographers.com/ which I agree is not good.

Amber suggested http://photographers-seo.com is different has a great deal of helpful free information in the blog section. That is my website! Wish I would have this post earlier, but anyway – let us know what you think.

This SEOMoz article at says that H1 is losing traction and H2/H3 are no longer relevant. It came out after a LONG time after you posted this article, so no worries, but a heads up to others.

Hi Monica! While it may help to get links in, the most important part of a link in is the surrounding text. Search engines may notice that it’s just a part of a blog roll (versus being a part of good content) and decide to ignore it. Similarly, the link text itself is important – linking to your name won’t help you with keywords other than your name, so consider asking for the link text to be “Oregon wedding photographer” (or wherever you’re located!).

Hi, I love your blog, thanks for all the great suggestions! One questions regarding blog rolling. I am a part of a community of about 2000 photographers, is it a good idea to try and get us all to link with each other on our sites and blogs? My links page would be huge, what are your thoughts on this?

Another resource… the Photographer’s SEO Book at http://photographers-seo.com. Looks to be good for template websites like BluDomain, SmugMug, LiveBooks, etc. Hoping it will help me in the rankings – fingers crossed! Hits on some of the things you mentioned, but there is also a blog that really expands on some of this stuff. Thanks Lara for opening the door to this stuff.
