I’m taking a day off and Brad and I are going to visit some of our good friends in Richmond. I’m sure we’ll be back with tons of pictures. If you take any awesome pictures of fireworks, feel free to leave links to them in the comments! :)
Siteseeing: What to expect from your photographer after the wedding
There was an excellent post written on the Blue Orchid Blog the other day about what to expect from your photographer after the wedding. Enjoy it here.
What I particularly liked about it was that the author recommended you not only ask the photographer questions, but you also ask past clients of the photographer the same questions about timing after the wedding: how long things took, how easy or not easy it was to get the deliverables, what it was like working with the photographer after the wedding day itself. I highly recommend you do this during your photographer search. If you’re a current client, I’d be happy to send you contact information for past clients. You can also read a more in-depth list of questions to ask your potential wedding photographer, as well as questions to ask this potential wedding photographer’s past clients.

Hannah & Eric - Teaser!
Hannah and Eric had an incredible, enjoyable wedding on Saturday and we all had a blast. They even rode bikes between the ceremony and the reception - talk about creative! From Hannah’s grandmother’s wedding dress to their first dance, it was clear how much time, effort, and purpose went into their wedding details. We had a ton of fun photographing it - enjoy the slideshow!
Daring Bakers - June!
June’s a crazy wedding month, which means I had a hard time finding spare time to do this two-day challenge! Brad and I ended up making the Danish Braid at my parents’ house, and I used my father’s point-and-shoot (which is why the photos look different than other months!). Even though the preparation photos don’t look as tasty, the end result was magnificent.
Here’s the thing - it involves spreading 2 sticks of butter over dough, and folding this dough over and over. The proofing time between each set of folds was a 1/2 hour, so it took all night to finish! This is me spreading on the butter:
Here’s the dough after the first “turn”. Check out all that butter in the middle.

Here’s the braid after all is said and done on the second day, when it’s ready to go in the oven with its delicious apple filling:

And here it is out of the oven:

Yum. Total yum. I forgot to halve the dough, so the proportion of filling-to-dough isn’t quite right. Still just as tasty though.

Today’s the Daring Bakers posting day, which means I won’t be posting tomorrow (Monday). Check back on Tuesday for a slideshow of this weekend’s amazing bike ride wedding!
